September alpha update: a bigger world to test
7 September 2026

Our last world update was in August. Since then, a lot of work has landed across the game, and the latest combined build is now deployed to the alpha server.
There is enough here to deserve more than one long list. We have split the release into four companion posts so you can find the parts you want to try.
More ways to spend a session
The skilling update covers Catherby Farming and compost, Herblore production, the first player-owned house features, Slayer assignments, and Motherlode Mine. These give testers longer routes through gathering, processing, supplies, and progression.
Bosses and activities covers King Black Dragon, Sarachnis, Cerberus, Wintertodt, Zalcano, and the Warriors' Guild. It also explains where Chambers of Xeric and the Gauntlet still need work. An encounter being deployed does not mean every mechanic, reward, or multiplayer case is finished.
Ritual information in the client
The Ritual tab and daily challenges bring server information and optional goals into the game. The production release also includes updated NPC spawns, map edits, and the interface files that had been missing from the previous live build.
That last part matters for returning players: some changes existed in development but had not reached the server you were logging into. The new release now packages those content files alongside the game itself.
RuneLite is available through the Ritual launcher
Windows and Apple Silicon Mac downloads are on the downloads page. The launcher includes Java and checks for client updates when opened. Read the RuneLite setup post for the supported platforms and current alpha limitations.
Fully close and reopen Ritual RuneLite after this update, then log in with your Ritual account. This lets the client refresh the changed interface files.
What we need from this playtest
The release passed automated server checks before deployment. The next step is seeing how these systems behave during normal play, especially where activities meet: travelling after a boss fight, relogging during progression, returning to a house, or claiming a saved reward.
Pick an activity, try its full loop, and report the exact point where it breaks. Include the character, location, action, expected result, and what actually happened. Login failures, lost progress, and duplicated items should come first.
Use the playtest guide for reporting and the roadmap for the remaining work. We will keep updating those as player reports come in.
