The early skilling loop takes shape

10 August 2026

Ritual's first skilling pass is about making a small part of the world worth learning. A player should be able to gather something, process it, bank or sell the result, and move naturally into the next activity.

Gathering around the opening world

Woodcutting covers the familiar tree tiers with axe and level checks, depletion, sounds, and visible tree changes. Mining runs from copper through runite and includes gem rolls, pickaxe requirements, and temporary rock depletion.

Fishing is intentionally narrower at this stage. The lobster-cage route is available, while the wider harpoon table is still being built. That is the pattern for this alpha: finish one route cleanly, test it, and then widen it.

From raw materials to useful items

Shrimp, anchovies, trout, and salmon can be cooked on fires or the Lumbridge range. Firemaking currently supports normal, oak, and willow logs. Bronze and iron smelting, followed by a small anvil recipe set, provide the first smithing route without pretending the full production tree is complete.

Early-world support

Lumbridge remains the centre of the test route, with Draynor adding a bank, market stock, fishing access, and a reason to travel. Prayer at the church altar and early quest interactions give gathered supplies and nearby NPCs more context.

The result is not a finished economy, but it is becoming a coherent opening hour. The next step is depth: better interfaces, broader recipes, stronger balancing, and more reasons for players to trade what they make.
