Introducing daily offerings at the Altar of Tribute

11 September 2026

The Altar of Tribute gives selected items another use: sacrifice them for Tribute points, then spend those points at the nearby Exchange. This update introduces its first daily rotation and a dedicated interface.

It starts with a simple question each day: is there something on today's list that you would rather turn into points?

Six offerings, shared by everyone

The altar accepts six items each day. Every player sees the same selection, with two common offerings, two equipment offerings and two rare offerings drawn from an authored pool.

That mix leaves room for smaller contributions alongside more valuable equipment. The current pool includes bones, logs, rune equipment, dragon equipment and the abyssal whip. Individual items will not appear every day.

This is a separate system from the optional tasks in daily challenges: Tribute exchanges eligible items for points rather than tracking task completion.

The list resets at 00:00 UTC, and the interface shows how long remains until the next selection. Restarting the server does not reroll the day's offerings.

Greater value, greater reward

Each eligible item has a fixed Tribute value. Higher-tier equipment generally awards more points than common supplies, with the initial values ranging from 1 to 600 points per item.

These are values set for Ritual's economy. The altar does not automatically follow market prices. That gives us room to adjust the balance deliberately as we learn which items players accumulate and which rewards they choose.

The first values are a starting point for playtesting. Our aim is to make sacrificing an item a worthwhile choice without making it the obvious answer for every valuable drop.

Choose, review, confirm

The interface lists each offering with its icon, name and point value. Selecting a row highlights it and shows the item separately, along with the quantity held and the available quantity controls. Noted versions of eligible items are accepted too.

An offering is only destroyed after review and confirmation. If the day resets while a confirmation is open, the selection is cleared and the new list appears. You can then review a fresh offering against the current day's terms.

Spend now or save for later

Tribute points belong to your character and carry over between days. They do not take up an inventory slot and cannot be traded to another player.

The initial Exchange catalogue focuses on useful supplies, including sharks, prayer and stamina potions, law and nature runes, and house teleport tablets. Exchange rewards cannot be sacrificed straight back into points. The reward catalogue stays fixed while the daily offering list changes.

What comes next

The daily selection and midnight confirmation rules have automated test coverage. Live playtesting will help us refine the interface and economy before treating the initial values as settled.

We would like feedback on both sides of the exchange: which surplus items would you consider sacrificing, and which rewards would make saving your points worthwhile?
